I had the pleasure of being to able to watch Super Bowl LI, between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. Fox’s senior broadcasting team, which consisted of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman called the game. Although I usually dislike Joe Buck calling games, I found him sharp in his deliver and smooth with his transition. He painted a good picture for myself as I sat with my eyes closed, and let Joe describe to me what was going on. I found myself during that brief time thinking, that Joe Buck did an excellent job of setting the play up and following through with the details of the actual play. They did enhance my viewing experience, from the aspect of providing cool and interesting facts that the common fan would not know. At the two-minute warning, Joe Buck was able to reset and go over the last few minutes which were down right crazy, leading up to this point, when he said “We are at the two minute warning, which will allow everybody including the two guys talking throughout all of this to catch their breath. 1:57. Wow.” I found this quote to be very honest, and accurate, as someone who has done play by play, I found it to be unique and change of pace opposed to someone going absolutely nuts.

Matt Ryan and the Falcons were doing everything right to take down the legend Tom Brady and the Patriots. It started out so promising, as the Falcons run game was looking impressive, their run d was shutting down Blount, and the most important getting pressure on Brady, and hitting him a lot! After being able to capitalize on both of New England’s turnovers (Blount’s Fumble, Brady’s Pick 6) it looked like the coffin was almost nailed shut. With the Pats adding a field goal before half, the score was 21-3 in favor of the Falcons. After going up 28-3 it looked all but over, even after scoring a touchdown, Gostkowski, missed the PAT, and the score was 28-9. After the Patriots fighting back and making it 28-20, Matt Ryan and Julio Jones make one of most amazing plays with a high pass towards the sideline, with Jones acting like an acrobat he was able to keep his two feet in bounds to set up a Falcons first and 10 at the Patriots 23 yard line. Essentially the Falcons could have kicked a field goal after running three straight times, and won the Super Bowl, but instead they dropped Matt Ryan back to pass on 2nd and 12 while being at the 25, and takes a sack to, then a holding call on 3rd down moved them out of field goal range. James White scored on a one yard run, and Brady completed a bubble screen to Amendola for the game tying 2-point conversation. James White also won the game in OT with a 2-yard Touchdown run, after an impressive drive from Tom Brady.

I liked the fact that Troy Aikman, and Joe Buck both declared Tom Brady the best ever that they had ever seen. I loved the honesty they showed being to call out Brady for the 1st and goal pass to Bennett that nearly was picked by Vic Beasley, by calling it a dangerous and risky throw while at the 1 about to win the Super bowl. One thing I feel Fox could improve on is less shots of the owners, as it is really important but I felt like it was a little overkill but it’s just my opinion. Overall I found the game to be very exciting, and called in a professional manner, that gives it credibility.
